Meet Nancy
My basket weaving journey began shortly after graduating college with a class taught by Manson-Lu Christ at Wesleyan Potters in Middletown, CT. Over the next 40 years, my newly found hobby took me to basket weaving conferences and classes in Connecticut, North Carolina, and Vermont where renowned instructors such as Diane Stanton, Eric Taylor, Judy Olney, Flo Hoppe, Sosse Baker, Wendy Jensen, JoAnn Kelly Castos, Jo Campbell-Amsler, Sue and Bill Smith taught me to weave baskets with rattan, wicker, paper, willow, oak, pine needle, birch bark, and other natural materials. These baskets were created in an assortment of styles, including Shaker, Nantucket, contemporary and ribbed.
After retiring from the corporate world in 2020, I turned my sights to sharing my knowledge with others interested in learning more about this art form. I have a studio in Unionville, CT where I help students explore basket weaving. I also teach basketry through local adult education programs.
I am a member of both the Northeast and North Carolina Basketmakers Associations.
