FAQ

  • How many students do you typically host in a class?

Typically 4 to 6 for beginner and intermediate-level baskets. For experienced basket weavers, 10 students is acceptable.

  • Do you host private classes?

Yes! If a group wants to learn to weave a basket together, I would supply the weaving materials and tools, if needed. The cost would be determined based on the basket the group selected. All members of the group would expect to have the same level of basket weaving experience.

  • Is there any level of experience required for taking a class? (Are there different levels? Do I need to have done basket weaving before in order to take a class?)

Classes are customized to the experience of the student. Students attending a class will have the same level of basket experience.

  • How can I sign up for one of your classes?

You can visit my Classes page to see a listing of available workshops and classes taking place with the Farmington, CT, Continuing Education Program as well as inside my home studio.

  • What basket options are available to take as a class?

I primarily work with rattan (flat and round reed). Pine needle coiling is also an option.

  • Have you worked with other materials or within other artistic disciplines?

I have made baskets using several types of weaving materials (see the Gallery section of this website). I also volunteer at a loom weaving center and have applied my basket making gathering vessels using woven loom material.
